Editorial Policy

The standards that govern everything published on Topin.pk — who writes it, how it is reviewed, and where the line between editorial and commercial content sits.

What we publish

Topin.pk publishes rankings, comparisons, buying guides and recommendations covering brands, places, services and education in Pakistan. We do not publish news reporting, press releases, sponsored articles presented as editorial, or user-submitted reviews.

Editorial independence

Editorial decisions — what we cover, which entries are included, and how they are ranked — are made by the editorial team alone. No advertiser, affiliate partner or commercial contact has any input into rankings, and none receives advance access to an article before publication. Any commercial arrangement that would compromise this is declined.

Who writes for Topin.pk

Articles are produced by the Topin.pk editorial team. Each article names the person or desk responsible for it and links to their profile. Writers are assigned topics based on their research area, and every author works to this policy and to our fact-checking policy.

Review before publishing

Before an article goes live it is checked for: accuracy of every factual claim against its source, completeness of the Sources section, correct application of the stated ranking criteria, clear labelling of any commercial links, and accessibility basics such as heading order and image alt text. Articles that fail any of these checks are held back until fixed.

Use of sources

We prefer primary sources: official company and institution websites, published terms and pricing, regulator and accreditation registers, and official statistics. Secondary sources are used only where a primary source is unavailable, and are named as such. We do not treat marketing copy as evidence of quality.

  • Every substantive factual claim is traceable to a source listed in the article.
  • Sources are dated, because prices, terms and availability change.
  • We do not cite anonymous or unverifiable claims as fact.

Conflicts of interest

Anyone contributing to an article must declare any personal, financial or family relationship with an entity being assessed. Where a conflict exists, that person does not work on the article. If a conflict is discovered after publication, we disclose it on the article and re-review the content.

Separation of advertising and editorial

Any commercial content is visually distinct and clearly labelled so it cannot be mistaken for editorial research. Commercial links inside editorial articles are disclosed at the point of use. See our advertising policy for details.

Use of AI tools

Automated tools may assist with routine tasks such as formatting, summarising our own notes, or checking spelling and structure. They are not used to generate factual claims, rankings or sources. Every published article is reviewed by a person who is accountable for its accuracy, and that person is named on the article.

Updates and unpublishing

Articles are updated as information changes, with the last-updated date reflected on the page. We generally update rather than unpublish, so that links continue to work. Where content is removed entirely, we explain why on the page that replaces it. Corrections are handled under our corrections policy.

Reader feedback

We welcome corrections, missing entries and category suggestions through our contact page. We read everything sent to us, though we cannot reply to every message individually.
