Why we accept advertising

Independent research takes time to produce. Advertising and affiliate commissions are what make it possible to publish Topin.pk without charging readers or putting content behind a paywall. This page sets out the boundaries we hold ourselves to in accepting it.

Separation from editorial

Advertising is sold and managed entirely separately from editorial research. The people who decide what we cover and how entries rank do not negotiate advertising, and advertisers have no visibility of rankings before publication. This separation is a condition of every commercial arrangement we accept.

What advertisers cannot buy

No amount of spending buys any of the following:

• Inclusion in a ranking, comparison or guide.
• A particular position within a ranking.
• Removal of a competitor, or of a criticism we can evidence.
• Advance sight of, or approval over, an article before publication.
• Editorial coverage of any kind presented as independent research.

How adverts are labelled

Every paid placement is visually distinct from editorial content and clearly labelled — for example as "Advertisement" or "Sponsored" — so that no reader could reasonably mistake it for our own research. Affiliate links inside editorial articles are disclosed on the article, as described in our affiliate disclosure.

Sponsored content

If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be labelled as such at the top of the page, excluded from rankings and comparisons, and marked so that search engines can identify its commercial nature. Sponsored content will never be presented as an independent ranking.

Advertising we do not accept

We decline advertising that is misleading or unsubstantiated, that promotes illegal products or services, that targets or exploits children, that involves gambling or adult content, that makes unverifiable health, income or investment claims, or that is designed to imitate editorial content or site navigation. We also decline any advert that would degrade page performance or accessibility.

Reader experience standards

Advertising on Topin.pk must not obstruct the content you came to read. We do not accept pop-ups that block the article, auto-playing audio, adverts that shift the page layout as it loads, or formats that interfere with keyboard navigation or screen readers.

Our discretion

We reserve the right to decline or withdraw any advertisement at any time, without giving a reason. Acceptance of an advertisement is not an endorsement of the advertiser, its products or its claims.
